sms 2003，你需要吗？
sms 2003，微软这几年来一直在努力宣传的一个产品，在微软铺天盖地的广告面前，在各大论坛的微软粉丝努力追随面前，你作为一个企业的it pro，你是否也有一股想在企业中部署sms的冲动呢？那么在将你的冲动化为行动之前，请稍微花点时间看完我对sms 2003几个常用功能在实际使用中的一个点评，希望能够对你有点参考！
软硬件资产管理

功能：通过sms 2003在客户端的一个agent，将客户端的软硬件信息上传到sms server，并保存在sql中，然后通过查询和报表功能将内容显示出来。
点评：sms的软硬件资产管理，我认为，称为“管理”有点吹牛，而称为“软硬件资产统计”更为合适，虽然数据很全面，但没有体现出资产管理的功能，软硬件数据的变化没有体现，比如：员工私自安装软件，拆装硬件等变化信息都无法通过查询和报表得知，难道要it pro自己用眼睛去一行一行的比较啊？所以，里面的报表虽然很多，实用性却真的不咋的。但是这个功能自定义的可行性非常的高，试想，所有的数据都在sql里面，那么我们只需要通过前端的应用直接调用这些表单就可以得到我们希望得到的数据，其实sms 2003自带的报表就是这么做的，因此，对于开发人员，从sms 2003报表自定义的技术层面讲，不算是一个难度很大的工作，但是由于微软至今还没有公开sms 2003在sql中那几百张表单的表结构，因此这将会是一件很麻烦的事，其实微软的如意算盘是当用户对报表有大量的自定义要求时，由它来帮你开发，顺便再从你公司里拿点钱。如果自己开发，呵呵，慢慢研究！
软件分发

功能：只需要在sms 2003的控制台上进行操作，就可以实现软件的批量部署，而且不管此时客户端的当前用户是否拥有安装权限。
点评：这是sms 2003中非常实用的一个功能，所有的it pro在it的日常管理中，都会遇到一个难题，那就是客户端的本地管理员权限是否给用户？如果给，那么无休止的中毒、盗版软件安装等问题将不断的爆发。如果不给，那么用户可能只是升级一个ie的插件就需要it pro进行技术支持，用户不嫌麻烦，你不觉得烦吗？有了sms 2003软件分发功能，让it pro在面对这一矛盾的时候有了明确的答案。尤其是这个批量安装，实在是太爽了，试想一下，半个小时左右就可在几百台，甚至几千台电脑上将一个软件部署成功是一件多么有成就感的事。部署完成后，随便找个借口到用户面前逛一圈，掌声在哪里？鲜花在哪里？
补丁分发

功能：目前是通过itmu向客户分发软件补丁，可以包括windows系统、exchange等多个微软产品。
点评：鸡肋，这绝对是一个鸡肋功能。完全不能想像，补丁的分发需要全部手动完成，微软在业界有“裁缝”之称，以“补丁”闻名于世，而且补丁的发布是不定时的，微软自己有一个专门的补丁团队，但不是每个企业都这么有钱的，哪个it pro会整天有事没事的盯着微软的网站看有没有新的补丁发布，当然，如果微软愿意支付工资的话，我想每个企业都不会介意设这么一个专人的，如果不是，请问哪个老板愿意养着这样的“闲人”？

非常同意楼主的观点，软硬件资产管理功能吹得有点儿猛了，能统计上来这是不假，但是管理功能没有看出来。

但是sms 2003的“软件分发”功能对于管理员来说确实是个宝贝，尤其是批量软件分发。有了这个功能估计就再也见不到管理员在整个公司里到处乱窜了，而且省去口水若干升！不过还是有个问题，在批量分发的时候会占用用户计算机的资源，影响用户使用，这个问题有待解决。

“补丁分发”功能就是鸡肋，顶楼主，谁有事没事关注这个啊，我反正一天到晚其他时间都忙不完了，压根就没时间关注这个。

在网上找到的安装 system management server 的详细步骤，我正在试验，发上来大家共享！

一、安装dc
1、选将windows 2000 or 2003 安装成域控制器。同时要保证dns,dc,没有任何问题：
*、netdiag ,dcdiag 这两个工具来测试你的dc及dns是否有问题。（这两个工具在windows 2000 ro 2003 \i386\support下，安装support.msi即可）
2、扩展ad

*、regsvr32 schmmgt.dll
1. type mmc.exe, and then click on ok. the console1 window appears splaying a blank snap-in.
2. on the console menu, click on add/remove snap-in. the add/remove snap-in dialog box appears.
3. click on add. the add standalone snap-in dialog box appears, displaying all available snap-ins.
4. under snap-in, select active directory schema, and then click add.
5. click on close. the add/remove snap-in dialog box appears, displaying the active directory schema snap-in that was added.
6. click on ok. the console1 window appears, displaying the active directory schema snap-in.
7. in the console tree, right-click on active directory schema, and then select operations master. the change schema master dialog box appears.
8. click on the schema may be modified on this domain controller, and then click on ok.the console1 window appears, displaying the active directory schema snap-in.
9. on the console menu, click on exit. a microsoft management console message box appears prompting you to save the changes to console1.

二、安装sql
*.安装sql2000+sp3,补丁。

三、安装 sms 2003

1.click on systems management server 2003 . the welcome to the microsoft systems management server setup wizard dialog box appears.
2.click on next. the systems management server setup wizard system configuration dialog box appears, indicating setup did not find any existing systems management server installation on the computer.
3.click on next. the systems management server setup wizard setup options dialog box displays options for installation.
4.lick on install a systems management server primary site, and then click on next. the systems management server setup wizard installation options window appears.
5.select express setup, and then click on next. the systems management server setup wizard license agreement dialog box appears. read the licensing information.
6.click on i agree, and then click on next. the systems management server setup wizard product registration dialog box requests registration information.
7.in the name box, type your name.
8.in the organization box, type your company name.
9.in the cd key box, type a valid key, and then click on next. the systems management server setup wizard systems management server site information dialog box appears, prompting you for site information.
10.in the site code box, type s01.
11.in the site name box, type labsite. the site domain box should already have the domain lab listed by default. if not, the active directory domain may not have been properly set up.
12.click on next. the systems management server setup wizard systems management server active directory schema dialog box appears, providing information regarding extending the active directory schema to implement server locator or management points.
13.click on extend the active directory schema, and then click on next. the systems management server setup wizard systems management server security information dialog box appears prompting you for systems management server service account information and the level of systems management server security mode to implement.
14.select advanced security, and then click on next. the systems management server setup wizard systems management server primary site client load dialog box appears, prompting you for the number of clients expected in this systems management server site. this is to provide automatic configuration of the systems management server database.
15.click on next to accept the default of 100. the systems management server setup wizard sql server administrator account dialog box appears.
16.type password for the sql server administrator password. the systems management server setup wizard concurrent systems management server administrator console dialog box appears.

17.keep the default setting of 5 systems management server administrator consoles, and then click on next. the systems management server setup wizard completing systems management server setup dialog box appears.
18.click on finish.

四、发布客户端软件
1、open sms administrator console---system management server------site database（s01-labsite)-----site hierarchy-----（s01--labsiet)-----site settings---client installation methods-------client push installation
2、right-click client push installation properties---select （enable client push installation to assigned resource.
3、system types: select all options （servers, workstationss,domain controllers)
4、select （enable client push installation to site systems)---client thpes （select advanced client)

五、配置 client agents
1、hardware inventory client agent,software inventory client agent, remote tools client agent, advertised programs client agent, software metering client agent.这些用户可以根据自己的要求配置相应的选项。

六、discovery methods.
1. in the console tree, expand site database, expand site hierarchy, expand the s01 - labsite, expand site settings and then select discovery methods. the list of discovery methods for the local site appears in the details pane. notice that there are three discovery methods related to active directory environments.
2.in the details pane, right-click on active directory system discovery, and then select properties. the active directory system discovery properties dialog box appears.
3.select new （the icon in the shape of a star). the browse for active directory dialog box appears, allowing you to specify the use of a local domain, local forest or remote forest for discovery.
4.verify that local domain is selected, and then click on ok. the select new container dialog box appears, allowing you to specify the container to use for discovery.
5.select the local domain named lab, and then click on ok. the active directory system discovery properties dialog box appears. notice the distinguished name for the container to search. also notice that a recursive search will be performed on that container.
6.click the polling schedule tab, select run discovery as soon as possible, and then click on ok. the systems management server administrator console is now in the foreground.
7.in the details pane, right-click on active directory user discovery, and then select properties. the active directory user discovery properties dialog box appears.
8.select new （the icon in the shape of a star). the browse for active directory dialog box appears, allowing you to specify the use of a local domain, local forest or remote forest for discovery.
9.verify that local domain is selected, and then click on ok. the select new container dialog box appears, allowing you to specify the container to use for discovery.
10.select the local domain named lab, and then click on ok. the active directory user discovery properties dialog box appears. notice the distinguished name for the container to search. also notice that a recursive search will be performed on that container.
11.click on the polling schedule tab, select run discovery as soon as possible, and then click on ok.

七、查看客户端是否已安装
1、打开控制面板-----system management, run advertised programs, progrm donwload monitor, remote control 会增加四个图标。。
2、打开system management属性----action 列表中有以下信息： discovery data collections cycle ,file colletions cycle, hardware inventory cycle,id mif collction cycle, machine policy retireval&evluation cycle,software invetory cycle,software meterimg usage report cycle,user policy retireval&evaluation cycle, windows installer source list update cycle.如果在列表中只有user policy retireval&evaluation、machine policy retireval&evluation。说明客户端有问题。
3、打开 system management server ----collections--all system---是否可以看到工作站，并查看相应的信息，，如工作站的client,assigned是否为yes ,client type是否为advanced.
4、如果在all system中没有工作站的信息，可做下面操作。选中all system---properties---all task----update collection membership.可多做几次。一段时间之后即看到client的信息。

一般来说，与传统系统管理原则相关的 microsoft 产品是 system center 系列的一个部分。但是 microsoft 安全解决方案是一个例外，它们将会拥有自己的系列名称。我们的 system center 系列名称的用意在于：属于这个范畴的所有产品都将是基于 sdm 的，具有前所未有的集成度，并遵循基于 itil 的过程工作流，以便解决跨产品系统管理问题。具体的技术和集成准则目前正在制定中。

我们公司500多台电脑！一堆统计光驱、内存、安装软件之类的数据，真想不通要这么多无关紧要的数据干吗！

资产管理还是很有用的！管理员就是应该关注这些软硬件数据的变化，要不你当管理员干吗，所以不要埋怨资产管理，有些事情管理员就是需要去做的。
